Donn Meinert – 1934 to 2008

Elizabeth "Liz"  Meinert- Retired

Donn was part of the family business for  50 years before his passing in 2008. A graduate of Clay High School he attended Hillsdale College before graduating from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. His memberships included St. Mark Lutheran Church (life member), Paragon (Port Lawrence) Masonic Lodge, North American Swiss, Oregon Economic Development Foundation, and the Ohio and National Funeral Directors Association. Donn was also a member and past president of the Funeral Director's Association of Northwest Ohio and the Maumee Bay Chamber of Commerce. He also served on the Oregon City Council and the Board of the Oregon Branch of Sky Bank. 

Liz has now retired but served the funeral home for many years.  A lifelong area resident, Liz has been affiliated with the funeral home for over 40 years. She is also a licensed funeral director and cosmetologist. She is a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church, the Northwest Ohio, Ohio and National Funeral Directors Associations, St Charles Hospital Guild, Oregon Business and Professional Womens' Association (past president), Friends of Pearson Metropark, Zonta II of Toledo and the North American Swiss. Liz has served on the St. Charles Hospital Foundation and many other community volunteer activities. She is the widow, Donn, and she has one daughter, Lisa Pavley and two grandsons, Michael and Matthew Pavley.

 

Dennis Pavley - President

Dennis joined the staff in 1981 after graduating from Defiance College and Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. He is a member of First St. John Lutheran Church and has served on the church council as an elder and on the finance committee. Dennis has served as a Board Member of the St. Charles Hospital Foundation and Oregon Economic Development Foundation.  He is past president of the East Toledo Oregon Kiwanis, the Eastern Maumee Bay Chamber of Commerce, and The Ohio Funeral Group of Trust 100. He also served as President and trustee of the Oregonians Club. His affiliations include the North American Swiss, East Toledo Club, Eagles Landing Golf Club, Crews Nest Yacht Club, and Clay Athletic Boosters. Dennis and Lisa live in Oregon and have two sons, Michael and Matthew.

Elizabeth "Lisa" Pavley

Elizabeth “Lisa” Pavley has been a staff member since 1989 as a licensed funeral director. Lisa manages our Advanced Funeral Planning and Families in Transition programs. She is a graduate of Clay High School and has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work from Defiance College. She and her husband Dennis, and sons, Michael and Matthew, reside in Oregon. She is a member of First St. John Lutheran Church and serves on the boards of the The Eastern Maumee Bay Chamber of Commerce, East Toledo Family Center, and Bay Park Community Hospital Auxiliary.  She served on the boards of The Oregon Schools Foundation, the James “Wes” Hancock Senior Center and is past president of the Eastern Community YMCA.

 

Terry Jay Breymaier – Manager, Oregon Chapel

Terry has been a member of our staff since 1965 and has been a licensed funeral director and embalmer for over 40 years. He was born and raised on the East Side and is a 1965 graduate of Waite High School. His long-standing commitment to our community has earned him the Kiwanis Frederick Hansen Humanitarian Award, the Exchange Club's Book of Good Deeds Award, and Toledo Area Metropark's Oak Tree Award.   He is also the recipient of the Toledo Area Boy Scout Council’s Silver Beaver Award, a member of the Waite High School’s Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame, and in 2009 was selected Person of the year  by the Eastern Maumee Bay Chamber of Commerce.  He has served as president of the East Toledo Club, Oregonians, Friends of Pearson Metropark, Funeral Directors Association of Northwest Ohio and Memorial United Church of Christ. His other affiliations include Paragon (Lotus) Masonic Lodge, Black Swamp Bird Observatory. East Toledo, Oregon Jerusalem and Ohio Historical Societies. He and his wife Mary have two children, Rob and Meredith and three grandchildren, Harrison, Vivek and Hamilton.

Jason  Fletcher -  Manager,  Kinsey Birmingham Chapel

Jason joined our family in February 2009 after serving with a prominent Cincinnati funeral home.  Jason is a licensed embalmer and funeral director and manages our chapel in East Toledo.  He was raised in Elmore and graduated from Woodmore High School in 2002.  Jason holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and Human Resources from Otterbein College, and a Bachelor’s Degree from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science.  Jason is a member of Zion United Methodist Church, Elliston.  Jason is actively involved in Oregon/Northwood Rotary Club and serves as a volunteer with the American Cancer Society and Elmore Historical Society.  As an Eagle Scout, Jason continues to volunteer with local Boy Scout Troops.  He is a member of both the Ohio Funeral Directors Association and the Ohio Embalmers Association.  Jason resides in Elmore.

Lawrence Schaffer – Manager,  Millbury Chapel

Larry has served as a local funeral director for over 25 years and is currently manager of our Millbury chapel. He and his family regularly attend Christ United Methodist and St. Ignatius Catholic Churches. Larry has served as president of the Maumee Bay Chamber of Commerce, the Oregon Community Family Coalition East YMCA Board, and Treasurer of the James Hancock Senior Center. Larry is currently chairman for both the Bay Park Community Hospital Foundation Board, and the hospital’s Business Council.  In addition, Larry serves on the Bay Park Community Hospital Board of Directors and the Board of Directors of Luther Home of Mercy, Williston.    Larry is responsible for our memorial design team and his unique ability to custom design family memorials can be seen in many of our local cemeteries. He and his wife Jane are Oregon residents and have three children, Rachael, Lauren and Jacob.

Julie Miller  – Office Manager

Julie was born and raised in the Birmingham Neighborhood on the East Side.  She graduated from Holy Rosary grade school, Cardinal Stritch High School, and Owens Community College.  She is member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church where she is a lector and a greeter.  Julie resides in Oregon with her husband Steve who is a Supervisory Deputy United States Marshal.  Julie has a son Adam, who attends Cardinal Stritch High School.  She also has 2 step-daughters, Rachelle and Rebekka. 

 

Mary Nemecek – Secretary

Mary's roots are in the Birmingham Neighborhood. She graduated from Holy Rosary Grade School and Cardinal Stritch High School. She was a former member of Holy Rosary Parish where she has been a member of the school guild, past president of the school council.  She also served as church secretary and now attends St. Stephens Catholic Church. She serves as secretary-treasurer of the Junior Order of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association.   Mary and her husband, Steve live in East Toledo and have three sons, Steve, Jeff and Allen.

Joy Gladieux - Advanced Planning Specialist
Joy joined our firm in 2006.  She enjoys helping serve our families as a Certified Advance Planning Specialist and is part of our Families in Transition program.  She is proud to be a life long East Side resident and graduate of Waite High School.  Joy is a member of Cedar Creek Church and Bay Park Community Hospital's Women's Auxiliary.  She and her husband Patrick, a Toledo Policeman and graduate of Cardinal Stritch and the University of Toledo, reside in Oregon.  They are proud parents of 4 grown children and many grandchildren.
 
Blaque and Joan Bauman
Joan has been with our firm for over 19 years and her husband Blaque joined us in 2004 after a long career with Foodtown Supermarkets. Joan has maintained her own cleaning service for over 25 years. They are the proud parents of three children and three grandchildren. During her spare time Joan can be seen power walking at the Woodville Mall and Blaque enjoys running, especially at Pearson.
Matthew Pavley
Matthew is the youngest son of Dennis and Elizabeth. He has proudly assisted the staff since 1998. Matthew graduated from Oregon Clay High School in 2004 and was a member of the DECA Marketing program. Immediately following, he went on to Kent State University and obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies with a focus on interpersonal communication. Matthew is currently attending Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science and plans to join the staff as a licensed Funeral Director in 2011. Aside from school, he is an alumnus of the Phi Kappa Tau National Association and a member of First St. John Lutheran Church.
